Our Services/Activities

We address community health needs through local, accessible and complimentary services so that we can offer opportunities for improving health and wellbeing and support those suffering from long term health conditions, therefore creating a centre for the community giving people a sense of purpose and belonging in an area that is well known for offering few opportunities and amenities. Gentle Exercise

Our Gentle Exercise classes are from 12.30-1.30pm every Tuesday and Friday, these classes help to teach older and disabled residents how to exercises in a manner that reduces injuries and promotes exercising.

 

Our Sessions are ran by a fully qualified instructor, who has years of experiance.

Befriending

Come along and join our new Befriending group. Every Monday from 10am-12pm our residents get together to chat, play games and discuss issues that interest them.

Our sessions are led by a local volunteer and tea, coffee and biscuits are available.

The Lunch Club

The Lunch Club is run by the Centre Manager and a group of dedicated volunteers every Thursday from 11.50-1.30pm. Those attending recieve a two course home cooked meal every week.

 

This activity helps residents to get a much needed warm meal each week and it offers offer residents great volunteering opportunities that have led many to gain employment elsewhere.

The Walking Group

The Walking Group is a long standing activity that the Rock Centre offers, the group has quite a large following at present who all meet up to go on fun walks.

 

The walks are catered for those who have trouble walking and are not in the best of health.

Lawrence Weston Community Transport

The Rock Centre is please to announce that it is now home to Lawrence Weston Community Transport.

​

Called LWCT for short the group is a valuable part of the community and a much relied upon service.

Coffee Morning's

Our regular Coffee Mornings are a fun and friendly place for residents to meet and share there news and views with each other, these mornings are helpful to the Centre as we are able to gauge the community and find out what activities/classes they would like to see and be part of.

LW Out of Schools Activities

The Rock Centre is now home to the Lawrence Weston Out of Schools Activities group.

Healthy Eating

Our Healthy Eating classes are held every Tuesday from 11.30-12.30pm, those attending are given advice on how to cook and eat healthily.

 

This helps to combat obesity that is currently affecting more and more people, our class is ran by a fully qualified tutor who has years of experience.

Arts and Craft

Craft sessions encourage people to learn new skills and develop their abilities. It also acts as a social club for those attending to interact with others in similar circumstances. Tea, coffee and biscuits etc will be included to help encourage a more friendly and social club.

 

The sessions are run by a qualified tutor and volunteers.

Amdram Drama Class

Amdram are an established drama group that has been in operation for many years. The Rock Centre is delighted to host such a diverse and entertaining group.

The sessions are open every Tuesday from 6.30pm onwards.

YOGA for Beginners

Our YOGA classes are great for beginners , aimed at residents of all ages the class promotes physical activity in a safe way.

 

The classes run every Wednesday from 6.30-7.30pm.

Volunteering

The Rock Centre currently has many volunteering

opportunities available to anyone wishing to donate their time to our valuable activities. If you would like to discuss these opportunities then please do contact the centre for more information.

Private Parties

The Centre is available for private rental on weekends. We can host a wide range of private functions.

Over the last 12 months we have been hosting regular chiropody sessions, these have proven to be a huge hit and every session has been full since we started.

 

We currently have a fully qualified chiropodist who visits the centre every fortnight, the chiropodist has built up a great understanding with those attending.
